Success Story: American Association of School Administrators

Client Profile:

The American Association of School Administrators (AASA), founded in 1865, is a professional association of over 10,000 educational leaders in the United States, with 7,000 members eligible to vote in elections. Primarily consisting of school district superintendents, AASA advocates for the highest quality public education for all students, while developing and supporting school system leaders.

Client Challenge:

Before Survey & Ballot Systems (SBS) came on board, AASA was challenged with an expensive and unwieldy election process.

After the ballots had been received, an independent CPA firm oversaw tabulation and notarized results. It was not uncommon for observers representing candidates, to travel to AASA headquarters to watch the ballots being opened and counted. Despite these costly measures, there was concern about voters being able to cast more than one ballot – we did not have an election system that guaranteed only one vote for each member.

SBS Solution:

When AASA decided to outsource election management, I was immediately impressed by references for SBS. Despite being located halfway across the country, SBS flew into my city, met with my team and consulted on an election solution. This was refreshing, since another vendor located nearby would not commit to a face-to-face appointment.

SBS created an online voting solution that met the needs of our members. Since the implementation of the easy-to-use web voting system, I don’t think we’ve had one complaint regarding casting ballots. Overseeing the worry-free election system has made election management infinitely easier. Best of all, election results are signed, sealed and delivered – certified and guaranteed.

AASA election costs are a fraction of what they were in the past and I am able to monitor every aspect of member voting. This is beginning to sound like a Boy Scout oath, but working with SBS is a total pleasure.
