Executor of Estate

Last Updated on April 1, 2025 by Hannah Seeley

An executor of an estate is the legally appointed individual responsible for managing a deceased member’s assets, sometimes including their voting rights within an organization. Depending on your bylaws, the executor could cast votes on behalf of the deceased’s estate. Most of the time, executors cast votes that have a direct impact on the deceased’s financial interests. However, an executor can’t represent deceased members forever; your organization needs policies for transitioning voting rights to active members or beneficiaries.
