Ballot Fatigue
Ballot fatigue occurs when voters lose interest or become overwhelmed by the number of ballot options during voting. If a ballot lists a lot of positions, propositions, or complex bylaw changes, the risk of ballot fatigue increases substantially. While organizations can’t always avoid complex ballots, this issue can lead to significant problems, such as incomplete ballots and disengagement. Voter education, engaging voting methods such as online or hybrid options, and well-structured ballots will go a long way in preventing ballot fatigue.
